From pharaohs to modern day fashion icons, the turban hat is a fashion trend for the ages! As many of you may have noticed on our IG account (@sadieandaj_fashionblog), my little fashion maven, Sadie, dons turbans quite often! Inspired by a trend reignited by the Oriental theme that ran through the Fall/Winter 2013-2014 fashion world, a few exceptional shops specializing in baby and children’s head accessories have introduced impeccably made turbans for little girls! Hello fellow children’s fashion addicts! Welcome to our new blog! As some of you may know from our page on Instagram, my name is Maria, and I am mama to fashion kids, AJ and Sadie Snow. We recently updated our IG name from my previous name @mrs_mia_d to the new @sadieandaj_fashionblog. I felt that it more adequately represented what my page is ultimately about, my kids and their fashion style.

For those of you not acquainted with our Instagram, it all started a little over a year and a half ago when I started posting pictures of my son, AJ’s, “OOTD’s” (outfit of the day). Pretty soon we were honored by being recognized by the fabulous Fashion Kids page. Since that original honor, AJ has gone on to be featured more than 6 times by Fashion Kids and countless other times on other fashion feature pages.

This past August we welcomed precious Sadie Snow into our little world. Now having been obsessed with fashion since a relatively young age and being slightly obsessed with princesses (thank you Walt Disney), this little princess completed my life. I now had my prince and my princess. Dressing my son had been fun, but insanely difficult as finding brands with fashion forward, “not just typical” pieces was a bit of a project at first. Instagram definitely helped with this, as there are so many amazing new lines that start out on there (stay tuned and I will be featuring our favorites).

It’s important to know that I am a true believer that to be fashionable doesn’t always mean designer. In fact I find designer kids clothing, while gorgeous, extremely impractical for everyday, especially in price. That is not to say that we don’t splurge every now and then on those special pieces, because we do. But I am a huge advocate of handmade, custom work! Etsy is my go to site for most things of this nature, however as I mentioned above, Instagram is also an awesome way at finding new brands, especially unique handmade items.
